In an effort to bring vegan pesto to the masses, I decided to make a vegan version.

This recipe for pesto is based on my favorite recipe in the book The Vegan Kitchen.

Pesto is a traditional Italian sauce, typically made with olive oil, garlic, oregano, and basil.

 It is commonly made with pesto pasta, and is a great dish to serve as a dinner topping.

The following recipe is for pesta pasta.

You can use any of the following ingredients to make this pesto:1 lb ground beef2 cloves garlic1 tsp ground coriander1/2 tsp oreganum, plus more to taste1/4 tsp salt1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped1/8 tsp dried oreganium, plus additional to taste3/4 cup olive oil2 tsp vegan pestle seasoning (optional)  This pesto should be served with a pasta dish, but you can also use a salad.

Make a sauce from scratch with this recipe.

To make pesto, melt olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add garlic, coriandra, oregonum, and salt.

Cook until fragrant.

Add the olive oil to the pan, and cook until the olive oils are fragrant and golden brown.

Add basil, oregans, and the basil pesto. 

Simmer for 10 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients, and simmer for another 5 minutes.

Serve with a salad, pasta, or even just a bowl of plain pesto!
