When to eat basil pestos: When not to eat them
What is a basil peston?
A basil pestoni is a type of pesto that is usually served as a salad or on pizza, but can also be made into a sandwich or a filling for bread or pasta.
How to make a basil-pepper pesto: To make a tomato-peppers pesto, mix all ingredients except the basil.
In a large bowl, toss the tomatoes, garlic, and basil in the pesto with 1 tablespoon olive oil.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve in a sandwich basket or roll.
When not serving as a sandwich, you can also add a tomato slice and basil pesta for a side dish.
How long to cook basil pestons: When making a pesto sauce, basil and tomato should be cooked at about 170 degrees F. For a garlic pesto or pesto cheese, cook at 180 degrees F, and for a pesta pesto and pesto sauces, 180 degrees is the perfect temperature.
